Many of you may be familiar with an often-repeated quote from Maya Angelou: “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
At DAS Architects, we have taken that sentiment and made it a major part of our company’s mission. The evolution of the buying process in recent years has become more focused on creating experiences for consumers. Today, these every day “experiences” reach beyond the look and feel of a cool boutique hotel or trendy restaurant and have moved to encompass almost everything from hospitals to luxury residential, and even banks.
We believe that DAS Architects creates worthwhile and compelling experiences, as this has been important to us since we first launched our company – and, in my opinion, something beyond what most firms accomplish successfully. Through the years, it’s been our overall goal to develop insightful design experiences for our clients every step of the way.
Two of our recent projects illustrate how we design unique experiences. The first is Beneficial Bank, which was established in 1853 and happens to be the oldest financial institution of its kind in Philadelphia. For this brand, it was essential to provide something unexpected — a different type of banking experience and instead feature a warm, friendly and inviting atmosphere throughout. We worked closely with Beneficial to create an innovative business experience and a non-corporate vibe, more like a coffee shop than a corporate environment. The end result? An open floor plan with rich woods and brick – a welcoming atmosphere that invites guests to stay, relax and hang out – there is even a children’s library, and space for meetings, too. Without lines or tellers, customers now go directly to “transaction pods,” and a “knowledge bar” to accomplish their banking needs.
