DAS Architects is pleased to announce that construction for The Harper, a Rittenhouse Square luxury apartment tower designed for Pearl Properties, has topped out at 24 stories. The mixed-use project at 1910 Chestnut Street includes 183 apartments and a rooftop park.
“The architecture was inspired by the rich character and multi-dimensional context of the neighborhood. The building’s height and scale, along with the crafted façade design is the right fit for this Philadelphia neighborhood” said David Schultz, “and the open air courtyard entrance welcomes residents home.”
The courtyard design draws your eye upward to the 24th floor where a suspended glass balcony offers a dramatic overlook to Rittenhouse Square and the city skyline. The linear building lobby is highlighted by a 110′ long restored 19th century steel truss. The second floor will be devoted to a 10,000 SF resident’s area including a wide array of amenities such as: co-working lounges, a large fitness center, an indoor basketball court, a movie theatre and game room, and a large social room with a kitchen for special events. The second floor also opens onto the tree-lined roof-top park and adjacent pool / spa. Atop the tower on the twenty-fourth floor is a club room and sky deck with views of the city.
“The club room will be a contemporary luxury space designed to be enjoyed by groups and individuals,” said Susan Davidson. “Warm colors, subtle lighting, hardwood flooring, elegant furniture and spectacular views will make it ideal for celebrations as well as quiet moments.”
The brand of the interior takes us full circle in Rittenhouse square. Reclaimed architectural elements, a flanking park image and full scale wall mural invite the individual upon entry. Once inside a sculptural stair of steel and stone invites you to a second floor environment of co-working and hang out space. The Warm, modern and eclectic materials speaks to a “luxury for all” Brand.”
The project team includes DAS Architects (architecture and interior design); Pisarek Engineers (MEP engineering); Harman Group (structural engineering); Maser Consulting (civil engineering); Ryan and Associates (landscape architecture); Grenald Waldron (exterior lighting design); Studio DAS (furnishings procurement); Wellcraft Construction (general contractor).
Construction is expected to be complete in early summer of 2019. Like DAS Architects’ recent residential projects Lyndon at the Curtis Center and The Beacon at 15thand Walnut, The Harper is a home where you can create your own experience.
The apartment is named for 19thcentury Irish immigrant, brick manufacturer and congressman James Harperwho owned much of Rittenhouse Square at one time. He set the standard for residential refinement with his own house, now the Rittenhouse Club, where he hosted Lafayette and other leaders, politicians and captains of industry. He left Congress in 1837 when he could no longer bear the corruption of the Jackson administration.

I like how you mentioned the club room will be a contemporary luxury place for groups and individuals to enjoy. When I was in college I think about it differently, there is really numerous information in this article that helps me. I’m grateful for your advice about interior design.
