Montage Mountain Hotel Resort

Scranton, PA

Montage Mountain Resorts, located in the Pocono Mountains in Scranton, PA, will be getting a major upgrade in 2024. The addition of the Montage Mountain Hotel & Conference Center to the already 400-acre Ski Resort and Waterpark is the next step in a decade-long resurrection of a nearly 40-year-old business. Charles Jefferson, the managing partner for the mountain and principle of Jefferson-Werner, retained DAS Architects + Interiors of Philadelphia, PA, to handle both the architecture and interior design, to create a seamless feel from start to finish.

The 3.5-star, 150-room resort will feature a rooftop bar and lounge, multiple restaurants, a heated pool, hot tubs, a fitness center, and a full-service spa. The Hotel will be carefully positioned midway on the mountain where skiers can easily ski in and out to access beginner and intermediate terrain as well as the more difficult slopes of the northface complex, an area featuring the second steepest slope in the east, “White Lightning.” In addition to hotel amenities, a 10,000-square-foot conference and event center will be constructed, featuring outdoor terraces with fire pits.

“Once completed,” explains co-owner Jefferson, “our guests will have direct access to the slopes from a world-class resort. The conference center will attract business groups from throughout the region and beyond while providing expansion space for many of our existing events, such as Rhythm & Brews and seasonal wine festivals.  The Conference Center will be the backdrop for new opportunities and the growth of music festivals, weddings, and gatherings of all types year-round. This will further the mountain’s efforts to become a four-seasons activity hub for the region.”

This destination ski resort features recreational activities, including alpine skiing and snow tubing on 27 mountain trails. In the summer months, a waterpark offers great family fun, along with hiking, trail running, and yoga, while surrounded by 8,000 acres of Pinchot State Forest. The resort currently offers dining and socializing at Slocum Hollow Bar and Restaurant, along with hosting 50+ events throughout the year. This will be the first hotel on the property.
